About Norfolk Bus Tracker
Norfolk Bus Tracker shows where buses in Norfolk are right now, which ones are running late, and which routes have disruptions. Positions refresh every 10 seconds.
How to read the map
- Green: on time (up to 2 minutes late)
- Amber: 2 to 5 minutes late
- Red: more than 5 minutes late
- Blue: the operator does not report a delay for this bus
- Grey: no position update for over a minute
Install the app
On Android and desktop Chrome or Edge, use the Install button in the header. On iPhone and iPad, open the Share menu in Safari and choose “Add to Home Screen”. Once installed, the app opens offline and shows the last positions it loaded.
How delays are worked out
Bus operators in Norfolk publish where each bus is, but not how late it is. The app works that out itself: it finds the timetabled journey the bus is running, checks where the bus should be at this moment, and compares that with where it actually is. These figures are estimates and can be a minute or two out, especially between stops that are far apart. A bus that cannot be matched to a timetabled journey is shown in blue.
Zoom in on the map to see bus stops. Select a stop to see its next departures; times marked as live are adjusted for the bus’s current delay.
Search by postcode
Type a full postcode, such as NR1 3QF, into the search box to see when the next bus leaves from the stops within 800 metres of it and where it goes, with one line for each route and direction. Below that are the buses in the area right now and the stops themselves. The search only covers Norfolk: for a postcode in another county the app tells you so and does not search.
To find where a postcode is, the app sends it to the open postcodes.io service. It is not stored, and it is not linked to you.
Plan a journey
Choose “Journey”, then say where you are going from and to: a postcode, a town or village, a bus stop, your own location, or a point picked on the map. You can add up to three stop-offs on the way. The app lists the next few ways to make the trip, with the walks, the buses, where to change and roughly how long it takes, and marks the one it recommends.
For a trip you are making now, the app uses the buses it can see: if one is running late, the times move with it, and a connection it would miss is not offered. For a later day or time it goes by the timetable alone. Walking is measured in a straight line, so allow a little more. Coaches that must be booked in advance are left out, and so are trains.
Languages
The app is available in English and Ukrainian; switch with the EN and UA links at the top of any page. Your choice is remembered on this device. The names of stops, destinations and operators, and the text of official disruption notices, come from the data source in English and are shown as they are.
